We fought to stop a private development effort that included a vehicle race track and outdoor concert venue that would have directly impacted the value and tranquility of neighborhoods and communities which surround the State Fairgrounds. (Note: We've won this fight for the moment.)

We fought to open a process that created a secret deal to open State land to exploitation by a private developer without proper review by the surrounding community or the people of the State. Before the Nederlander deal, the State Fairgrounds was the property of people of the State of Michigan. After the deal, the property became virtually the toy of Joe Nederlander and his fellow developers with the exception that the State was allowed to put on a fair there each year. Now the State is in charge again but may be looking for a similar deal. We want that process open and responsive to the needs of the surrounding communities.
We remain vigilante to insure that corrupt politicians, well paid lobbyists, and some future developer aren't allowed to put together another sweetheart deal at the expense of local communities.
We stay active so that communities bordering the corner of Eight Mile Rd. and Woodward will have a voice in developments in that affect their lives.
